Uttarakhand Delegation Interacts With Governor Of West Bengal, Shri R. N. Ravi, During Yuva Sangam Phase VII Visit.

New Delhi, Delhi, 11th of October, 2026 : The Department of Higher Education, Ministry of Education, Government of India, is implementing Yuva Sangam Phase VII under the Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat programme with the objective of fostering national integration and strengthening people-to-people connections among the youth of the country. The programme provides participants from 20 paired States and Union Territories with opportunities to engage with India’s diverse cultural traditions, educational institutions, innovation ecosystems and developmental initiatives, thereby deepening their appreciation of the nation’s unity amidst diversity.

The visit of the Uttarakhand delegation, with Hemvati Nandan Bahuguna Garhwal University as its nodal institute, to West Bengal commenced with a warm welcome on 7 October 2026, marking the beginning of an enriching journey of cultural exchange, experiential learning and mutual understanding. The delegation is being hosted by IIT Kharagpur, which is facilitating opportunities for the young participants to explore the State’s rich cultural and spiritual heritage, vibrant traditions and educational landscape.

During the visit, the delegates interacted with Governor R.N. Ravi on 8 October 2026, engaging in meaningful discussions on learning, cultural exchange and the importance of strengthening connections among young people from different parts of the country. The interaction provided the students and faculty members of the Uttarakhand delegation with an opportunity to gain valuable perspectives while experiencing West Bengal’s distinctive cultural identity and traditions.

As part of their cultural exploration, the Uttarakhand delegates visited Prinsep Ghat in Kolkata and Sundervan on 9 October 2026. Prinsep Ghat, one of the city’s well-known landmarks situated along the Hooghly River, offered participants an opportunity to experience Kolkata’s historic charm, scenic surroundings and vibrant atmosphere, adding another memorable dimension to their Yuva Sangam journey.

The visit reflects the spirit of Ek Bharat Shreshtha Bharat by encouraging young people to explore new places, interact with diverse communities and build lasting friendships beyond geographical boundaries. Through such immersive experiences, Yuva Sangam Phase VII continues to promote national integration, cultural understanding and appreciation of India’s rich diversity.
