Dharmanagar, Tripura, 21st of October, 2026 :  To the melancholic beat of the dhak, the conch shells blowing in farewell, and the pandal in Dharmanagar painted red with vermillion — the women immersed themselves in Sindoor Khela on the auspicious moment of Vijaya Dashami, the final chapter of Durga Puja.

With a mix of joy and sorrow, they coloured the Goddess’s farewell in their own emotions. The ritual began with offering sindoor at the feet of Goddess Durga, a mark of respect and devotion to the Mother. Then, by applying sindoor on each other’s foreheads, sharing sweets, and embracing with good wishes, the women made the last moments of the festival memorable.

The touch of red sindoor brought a glow of happiness to every face, while deep in the heart rang the mournful tune of bidding farewell to the Mother. In this emotional moment, everyone present offered sindoor to Goddess Durga with reverence and devotion, bowed at her feet and prayed for well-being.

On this day in Dharmanagar’s pandal, Sindoor Khela was not just a ritual; it became an embodiment of Bengal’s eternal culture, a celebration of woman power, and a unique picture of harmony. Behind the faces coloured in red sindoor, there was only one heartfelt plea — “Asche Bochor Abar Eso Ma — Come Again Next Year, Mother.”_And so, with the final beats of the dhak, with tearful eyes and faces reddened with sindoor, the Sharad Utsav in Dharmanagar moved towards its conclusion.

The idols will be immersed, the lights of the pandal will go out, but the memory of Mother Durga’s arrival will remain untarnished in the temple of the heart.
