Dharmanagar, Tripura, 31st of October, 2026 : Tilthai Primary Health Centre has been facing difficulties for a long time due to an inadequate number of doctors and nursing staff. Nearly eight Gram Panchayats depend on this health centre for their medical needs. With only two doctors and three nurses currently managing its services, normal healthcare operations are being affected.
As a result, many patients and their families are being deprived of adequate medical care.Raising his voice against the shortage of doctors and nurses, Prashanta Debnath, Chairman of the Jan Arogya Samiti of Tilthai Primary Health Centre, has demanded an increase in the number of medical personnel. He stated that at least three doctors and five nurses must be appointed at the health centre in the interest of providing proper healthcare to the general public.Prashanta Debnath alleged that the issue of staff shortages had been brought to the attention of the North District Health Officer several times in the past.
However, despite repeated appeals, the Health Department has yet to take any effective steps to address the problem.Meanwhile, dissatisfaction is growing among local residents as the health centre, which serves as a major source of medical support for people from eight Gram Panchayats, continues to operate with insufficient staff. Residents have also demanded the immediate appointment of additional doctors and nurses to restore normal healthcare services.
Prashanta Debnath has made it clear that if their demands are not fulfilled soon, they will be compelled to launch a larger protest in the coming days. He has also warned that, if necessary, they will approach the Chief Minister to seek a solution to the problem. It now remains to be seen when the Health Department will take effective measures to resolve the issue and ensure proper healthcare services for the people.
