Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi on Friday (6th August, 2021) announced renamed the Rajiv Gandhi Khel Ratna Award, India’s highest sporting honour, after legendary Indian hockey player Major Dhyan Chand.
Taking to Twitter, Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted that he has been receiving plenty of requests from people across the country who wanted the award to be renamed after the legendary hockey player.
Hon’ble Prime Minister Narendra Modi tweeted, ” I have been getting many requests from citizens across India to name the Khel Ratna Award after Major Dhyan Chand. I thank them for their views.
Respecting their sentiment, the Khel Ratna Award will hereby be called the Major Dhyan Chand Khel Ratna Award!
