Agartala, 28th of July, 2024 : In the night intervening of 27th & 28th July 2024, BSF troops deployed on border foiled major attempts of trans border smuggling in the area of BOP Boxanagar, BOP N C Nagar, BOP Salpokar under Sonamura subdivision of Sepahijala District and BOP Tillabazar under Unakoti District.
Alert BSF troops timely detected movement of miscreants on either side of border fencing. On being challenged by BSF troops, trans border smugglers equipped with sharp edged weapons adopted aggressive posture and pelted stones on . Maintaining utmost restraint and professionalism , BSF troops fired 05 rounds from Non Lethal weapon and 2 rounds of 9mm to foil the smuggling attempts .
In addition in different operations BSF troops also seized 1800 pieces of Yaba tablets, 148 bottles of phensedyl, huge quantity of fire crackers worth Rs 9.5 lakhs and close to 6 tonnes of sugar .
BSF is committed to fight the menace of drugs in Tripura and to prevent trans border smuggling .
