Agartala, Tripura, 5th of May, 2025 : With the initiative of Tripura State Blood Transfusion Council (TSBTC) Health & Family Welfare Department. Government of Tripura has been conducted Mega Blood Donation Camp at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala, Tripura on Monday (5th May, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.

Interacting with the media Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that People from all walks of life in the state should come forward to donate blood voluntarily. In addition to blood donation camps, there is a need to come forward to donate blood voluntarily in blood banks as well. There should be a blood supply of one percent of the population. In this regard, 42 thousand units of blood were collected in the state last year. Blood donation camps are being organized in various districts of the state by government and private initiatives throughout the year. Various organizations come forward to organize blood donation camps in large numbers even in critical situations. The need for blood during elections and during pandemics like Corona. Blood cannot be stored for a long time, it is necessary to maintain a balance between the demand and supply of blood.

The Chief Minister also added that the need for blood can be seen in road accidents, various surgeries, especially during childbirth. In addition, cancer patients and Thalassemia patients also need blood. All the district hospitals in the state have blood banks. Blood banks have also been set up in many sub-divisional hospitals. More blood banks will be set up in the coming days. Many people donate blood voluntarily in all these blood banks.

The Chief Minister appreciated the initiative of today’s blood donation camp organized by the Tripura State Blood Transfusion Council (TSBTC) Health & Family Welfare Department. Government of Tripura and expressed hope that such initiatives will inspire other organizations.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries participants there were Kiran Gitte (IAS) Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Department Director Dr. Anjan Das, officials of the Health Department and many others remained present in the event. According to sources a total of 78 donors from different branches of the Health Department voluntarily donated blood in today’s blood donation camp.
