Ampi, Tripura, 7th of June 2025 : Many indigenous needy families living in South Ompi Panchayat under Ampi Nagar RD block in Gomati Tripura have sighed relief from prolonged suffering of their living house problem. They were in distress throughout the years for not having suitable house to live safely in rainy & stormy days. They were victim of storm, rain and cool as they were too weak in financial status that could not afford a proper house to live with their children. In the financial year 2023-24 South Ompi Panchayat has provided 178 pucca houses under PMAYG scheme to these helpless and deprived families to live comfortably with their family members. After completion of the beneficiaries’ houses their family status has been brightened and a glance of happiness was found amidst them.

PMAYG stands for Pradhan Mantri Awas Yojana Gramin, which is a government-backed scheme in India aimed at providing affordable housing to rural households. The goal is to ensure that every rural family has access to a permanent, habitable dwelling. As per the report, under the guidance & supervision of the concerned Panchayat secretary Sushanta Deb all PMAYG poor beneficiaries have accomplished their houses respectfully in their provided timeframe. Sources said that through suitable survey by the Panchayat authority needy and under privileged families have been selected for this government Amenity.

One villager of the beneficiaries said, “After availing PMAYG house facility benefit we are safe now in all season. Earlier we had been in terror specially for storm and rain. It is our appreciable achievement that our South Ompi Panchayat has provided us which has appeared as a great boon for us.”
