Pineapple Festival At Kumarghat.

Kumarghat, Tripura, 12th of July 2025 : With the initiative of Horticulture & Soil Conservation Department, Government of Tripura the Pineapple Festival has been conducted in collaboration with the Young Darlong Association of Tripura in Geetanjali Auditorium, Kumarghat, Tripura on Saturday (12th July, 2025). In the presence of many dignitaries Hon’ble Power, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath has inaugurated the programme by lighting the lamp.

Addressing at the inaugural ceremony of Pineapple Festival Hon’ble Power, Agriculture & Farmers’ Welfare Minister Ratan Lal Nath said that the Government is making efforts to establish a fruit processing factory in this region on the lines of Nalkata ‘s Nabamech. This factory will be on a PPP model. All preparations are being made for this. The Agriculture Minister said that a buyer-seller meet was held in Agartala on July 9 on the state’s organic crops. Through this meet, the State Government wants buyers outside the state to buy the produce of the farmers here. This will further increase the income of the farmers. He said that from the financial year 2018-19 to the financial year 2024-25, 73.15 metric tons of pineapple have been exported to Dubai, Qatar and Oman.

Addressing at the event, Hon’ble SC Welfare, ARD, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das said that the state’s pineapples are appreciated not only in Tripura or other states but also abroad. The Government is working on innovative initiatives in the agri-allied sector for the welfare of farmers. The agri-allied sector plays a special role in the development of the rural economy. He said that the pineapples here are not only going abroad but are also developing the rural economy.

Director of the Department of Land Conservation and Horticulture Deepak Kumar Das, delivered the welcome address at the inaugural session of Pineapple Festival today. Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were MLA Bhagaban Das, Unakoti Tripura Zilla Parishad Sabhadhipati Amlendu Das, Secretary L T Darlong, District Magistrate & Collector, Dr. Tamal Majumdar and many other distinguished dignitaries were present in the inauguration ceremony today.
