Jampuijala, Tripura, 24th of July 2025 : The Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) has witnessed a surge in grassroots progress, catalyzed by the ongoing field visits of Secretary Tribal Welfare, Dr. K. Sashi Kumar. In his latest visit to Jampuijala RD Block, the Secretary closely interacted with members of Yakhili Producer Group (PG), a 22-member livestock-based group actively engaged in piggery farming under the World Bank-funded initiative.

The PG has been supported with ₹6 lakh in working capital and ₹50,000 for establishment costs. The group has operationalized Pig Production and Pig Fattening Units, with 10 members already availing loans at a 3% interest rate and initiating repayments. Remaining members are set to take loans in a phased manner upon partial recovery.

Secretary Kumar commended the dedication of Block Programme Manager Mr. Jhuton Ghosh for his efforts in piglet procurement and technical support during pig shed construction.However he focused on ensuring animal insurance to avoid vulnerability.He also inspected ongoing works and addressed key issues raised by PG members, such as vaccine unavailability and delays in animal insurance.

The Secretary was accompanied by senior TRESP functionaries—Sonali Laskar (Institution Building Specialist), B. Hizam (Fishery Specialist), and Abdur Rahman Choudhury (Training Specialist, SIPARD)—along with ARDD representatives, Dr. Sujoy Biswas, TSA Lead Dr. Kranthi Suman, and local veterinary officials.

The visit also covered Twiboma Fishery PG to assess its current progress. These continuous on-ground evaluations by Secretary Dr. K. Sashi Kumar are significantly enhancing accountability, responsiveness, and confidence among rural women beneficiaries—establishing a results-driven culture within the TRESP framework.
