21st Foundation Day Of AGMC & GBP Hospital At AGMC & GBP Hospital, Agartala.

Agartala, Tripura, 1st of August 2025 : With the initiative of Agartala Government Medical College and Govind Ballabh Pant Hospital (AGMC & GBP) organized 21st Foundation Day Of AGMC & GBP Hospital At KLS Auditorium AGMC & GBP Hospital, Agartala on Friday (1st August, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the events today.

Addressing at the ceremony of 21st Foundation Day Of AGMC & GBP Hospital Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the citizens of the state are becoming more confident in the state’s health services. The tendency to go outside the state for treatment has also reduced a lot. The state government is constantly working to modernize the state’s health services. The state government is implementing various projects to develop a health hub in Tripura. the Chief Minister said that this college started its journey in 2005. Those who contributed to the establishment of the college should be remembered with respect. At present, the glory of Agartala Government Medical College is all over the country. Currently there are 150 seats in the MBBS course at AGMC. Initially, this college was started with 100 seats. Currently, out of 150 seats, 118 seats are reserved for students from the state, the remaining 22 seats are for Central Government nominees and 10 seats are reserved for students from the North Eastern region. Currently, the number of students pursuing MBBS in this college is 525. So far, 1,484 students have passed MBBS from this college. Out of these, 1,270 are from the state. They are engaged in health services in various rural and remote areas of the state and they are providing health services with sincerity.

The Chief Minister also added that currently there are opportunities for PG in 20 subjects. The number of PG seats is 89. Incidentally, the Chief Minister said that the people of the state could not even think that kidney transplants would be possible here too. At present, it is possible to perform complex surgeries and treatments in the state. The State Government is implementing multifaceted plans to improve the quality of health services. The infrastructure of district hospitals is being modernized.

 Principal of  Agartala Government Medical College Anup Kumar Saha delivered a welcome address at the inaugural session of 21st Foundation Day Of AGMC & GBP Hospital.  Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were Secretary of the Health and Family Welfare Department Kiran Gitte, Secretary of Ramakrishna Mission, Viveknagar, Agartala is Swami Shubhakarananda, Director of Health Department Dr. Tapan Majumder, Director of Family Welfare and Disease Prevention Department Dr. Anjan Das, Director of Medical Education Dr. H P Sharma and many other dignitaries were present in the celebration ceremony.
