Agartala, Tripura, 8th of August 2025 : With the initiative of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura observed Nobel laureate Rabindranath Tagore’s death anniversary at Muktadhara Auditorium, Agartala, Tripura on Friday (8th August, 2025).

Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha and the guests present paid floral tributes to Rabindranath Tagore on his death anniversary.
Addressing at the event Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Rabindranath Tagore was one of the living figures of Indian culture. Rabindranath’s thoughts are intertwined in every aspect of our society. Therefore, the poet’s literature and patriotic thoughts must be highlighted more to the coming generation. He was an artist, writer, social reformer all at once. Despite the physical death of the world poet, his creations still exist among us like the Star. The Chief Minister said that the poet’s Nobel Prize in 1913 was a matter of pride for the country. Visva Bharati University, founded by Rabindranath Tagore in 1921. The Chief Minister also added that the poet wrote 52 volumes of poetry, 13 novels, 95 stories and 38 dramas, which are still popular today. In 1905, he initiated the Raksha Bandhan festival to unite the countrymen against the partition of Bengal.
Secretary of Information & Cultural Affairs Department, Pradip Kumar Chakraborty delivered the welcome address at the inaugural session. Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya, Tripura State Cultural Advisory Committee Vice Chairman Subrata Chakraborty and many other distinguished dignitaries were present in the event.
