Agartala, Tripura, 28th of August, 2025 : With the initiative of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights organized One Day North Eastern Regional Convention on Child Rights in collaboration with the Social Welfare and Social Education Department Government of Tripura at Pragna Bhawan, Agartala, Tripura on Thursday (28th August, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the One Day North Eastern Regional Convention on Child Rights by lighting the lamp.

“Children are the future of society. Protecting the rights of children is not only the responsibility of the government. Protecting the rights of children is everyone’s responsibility. Everyone in the family, community, and society must take this responsibility together. The Government of India has enacted various laws to properly maintain child protection. Children should be properly cared for and nurtured and if we can make their future bright, we will be able to build a beautiful country and world.”, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha sat that at the inaugural ceremony of the One Day North Eastern Regional Convention on Child Rights by lighting the lamp today. He said, it should be remembered that only if the rights of children are ensured, it will be possible to build a beautiful and developed society in the future.
“One-third of the country’s population is children. Therefore, if we are negligent in the proper protection of children, it will be neglecting the society and the country. He said, if there are protection systems for adults in the field of socio-economic development, there should be equal opportunities for children as well. They are no different in the social field. An average of 63 thousand children are born in India every day. By providing proper protection to children, a beautiful society and country should be built by eliminating child labor and child marriage. The state government has taken various steps to protect child rights. A total of four child care institutions are functioning in Tripura for the safety and overall welfare of children. 947 children are being taken care of through these child care institutions. In the case of juvenile justice mechanism, Justice Boards have been formed in 8 districts for children in the state and Child Care Committees are working in 8 districts for the care, protection and rehabilitation of needy or orphaned children.”, Chief Minister added.

Highlighting the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha remarked thea through the sponsorship program, 4,234 children in the state are being provided with assistance of 4,000 taka per family per month for education, medical treatment and proper care. Currently, special Juvenile Police Units have been launched in all 8 districts of the state for child protection. It is our duty to ensure timely intervention in child-friendly and child-related matters. He said that one-stop centers have been opened for children in every district of the state. Two more one-stop centers will be set up. The State Government has emphasized on quality education of children in remote areas of the state. In the last few years, 2 lakh 29 thousand children have been brought under the ambit of various services through Anganwadi centers and POSHAN Abhiyaan in the state. Prime Minister Narendra Modi wants to make the North Eastern region a model child protection zone in terms of child protection. The state government also wants that no child should be deprived in every field including education and health. Work is being done in that direction.
Secretary of Social Welfare and Social Education Department Tapas Roy delivered a welcome address at the inaugural session of the event. Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Chairperson of Manipur SCP.CR Kaishyam Pradip Kumar, Chairperson of Assam SCPCR Shyamal Prasad Saikia, Chairperson of Tripura Child Protection Child Care TCPCR Jayanti Debbarma and many other distinguished dignitaries were present in the event. The program concluded with a vote of thanks by Director of Social Welfare and Social Education Department Tapan Kumar Das.
