Chief Minister Of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha Chaired A High-Level Meeting On The Current Traffic Situation In Agartala City.

Agartala, Tripura, 6th of September, 2025 :  Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha chaired a high-level meeting on the current traffic situation with the senior officials at the Secretariat, Agartala, Tripura on Saturday (6th September, 2025).

Chief Minister Professor (Dr) Manik Saha has directed the officials of the concerned departments to develop a smooth, beautiful and modern traffic system in Agartala. A high-level meeting was held today at the Secretariat Conference Hall under the chairmanship of the Chief Minister on various issues of traffic management in Agartala city. In this meeting, the Chief Minister also inquired about various works of the Smart City project and the proposed flyover.

During the meeting, Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha emphasized the need for immediate steps to make Agartala city free from traffic congestion before the upcoming Durga Puja festival. The Chief Minister advised to keep a careful on issues such as stopping loading and unloading of goods from vehicles on the side of the road during busy times, not parking vehicles on important roads for long periods, and always keeping vehicles moving on the narrow roads of the city without stopping. He said that to keep the traffic system running properly, people have to be treated well. They have to be explained. Many problems can be solved in this way. He asked the officials of the concerned departments to take up plans on whether hydraulic parking systems can be developed at various places to reduce traffic congestion in the city.

In the meeting, the Chief Minister inquired about the progress of construction of paved drains along various roads in Agartala city area. The Chief Minister directed that arrangements be made for this work so that the public does not face any inconvenience during Durga Puja. The Chief Minister also inquired in detail about the proposed double lane flyover. He said that various problems will have to be solved according to the situation in line with the time.

In the meeting, Kanta Jahangir, the Superintendent of Police (SP) apprised the Chief Minister about the current situation of traffic management in Agartala city in details. She discussed the steps that can be taken to create a smooth traffic system. Chief Secretary Jitendra Kumar Sinha directed the officials to take proper plans for implementing developmental works including traffic management in Agartala city.

Amidst the distinguished there were Director General of Police (DGP) Anurag, Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, Kiran Gitte, Tourism Department Secretary U.K. Chakma, Smart City Limited CEO, Shailesh Kumar Yadav, West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar, Agartala Municipal Corporation CEO, Dilip Kumar Chakma, Rajib Debbarma, Chief Engineer, PWD (R&B) and may other senior officers were present.
