Clash With The Deceased Family Over The Funeral Of A Dead Body, Police Vehicle Vandalized.

Khowai, Tripura, 10th of September, 2025 : The incident took place in the Amtali area under Khowai police station on Tuesday (8th September, 2025) night. After receiving the of the incident, the police beat them up and the police car was vandalized by the people in the Amtali area. The police registered a case. According to the report, Tapan Deb, a resident of Khowai Barbil village area, died on Tuesday evening after suffering from cancer for a long time.

On Tuesday night at 10 pm, when the deceased Tapan Deb was taken to a cremation ground in the Khowai Amtali area for cremation, the people of that area did not allow Tapan Deb’s dead body to be cremated. They said that the body of a cancer patient cannot be cremated at this cremation ground. This led to a dispute between the two parties. When the police reached the spot after receiving this incident, Sudip, misbehaved with the police personnel, and incited the villagers of that area to obstruct the cremation work. Police officer was slightly injured and a police vehicle was vandalized. The police registered a case against 5 people in this regard. They are the deputy chief of the area, Sudip Debbarma, Ananda Debnath, Sanjit Debnath, members Gautam Tanti, and Deepak Debnath.
