Agartala Book Fair : A Preparatory Meeting Of 44th Agartala Book Fair 2026.

Agartala, Tripura, 12th of November, 2025 : With The Initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura a preparatory meeting 44th Agartala Book Fair, 2026 organized at Sukanta Academy, Agartala, Tripura on Wednesday (12th November, 2025).

The 44th Agartala Book Fair — will be held in the first week of January 2026 at the International Fair Ground, Hapania, Agartala, Tripura. This decision was taken today at the preparatory meeting for organizing the Agartala Book Fair.

Addressing at the preparatory meeting, Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, said that book lovers and cultural enthusiasts from all over the state take part in the book fair. Every year, a large number of students and young men and women also visit the fair. The state government’s aim is to involve people from all sections of society with the book fair.

Finance Minister said that the younger generation’s interest in acquiring knowledge has increased significantly. If their enthusiasm for reading books can be further encouraged, they will become even more enriched.

“Vande Mataram” had played a vital role in organizing India’s freedom movement. This mantra belongs to 1.4 crore Indians, and Prime Minister Narendra Modi has taken initiatives to present it to the younger generation.”, Finance Minister added.

He wished success for the upcoming book fair to be held next year.

At the preparatory meeting Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman said that the Agartala Book Fair is being organized with the aim of encouraging students and the younger generation to become more inclined toward books. He emphasized the need to cultivate a daily habit of reading literature among them, noting that the joy and passion of reading are unlike anything else. He also added that students in the state are showing increasing interest and opportunities in higher education, which has made it necessary to open new colleges.

He extended his best wishes for the success of the upcoming book fair.

Addressing at the preparatory meeting, Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and MLA Dipak Majumder said that the State Government has made all necessary arrangements to organize various fairs at the Hapania International Fair Ground. He noted that the number of book lovers visiting the fair has been steadily increasing, along with the sales of books. He expressed hope that the crowd and participation at next year’s book fair would increase even further.

Secretary of Information & Cultural Affairs Pradip Kumar Chakraborty delivered the welcome address at the preparatory meeting. He presented an overview of the success of the 2025 Book Fair. He stated that 180 stalls were set up during the 2025 fair, with publishers and booksellers from both within and outside the state participating. Books worth ₹1.53 crore were sold. He also added that 13-day-long book fair, around 1,700 artists took part in various cultural programs. The State Government also presented 14 awards from the book fair stage in recognition of excellence in different fields.

Through a PowerPoint presentation, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya, shared detailed information about the preparations for the 2026 Book Fair.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Hon’ble Finance Minister Pranajit Singha Roy, Hon’ble Higher Education Minister Kishore Barman, Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder,  Hon’ble Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Manika Das Datta, MLA Mina Rani Sarkar, West Tripura Zilla Saha-Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil, Tripura State Cultural Advisory Committee Vice Chairman Subrata Chakraborty, Former Vice-Chancellor of Tripura University, Prof. Arunoday Saha, Secretary of Information & Cultural Affairs Pradip Kumar Chakraborty, Director of Information and Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharya,  and many other distinguished dignitaries were present at the event.
