Sepahijala, Tripura, 30th of November, 2025 : Sepahijala District Police, in joint operations with BSF, TSR battalions, Forest officials and other agencies, carried out a massive crackdown on illicit Ganja (cannabis) cultivation on 30th November, 2025 from early of the morning at various locations of the district.

In the Bishramganj PS area, acting on secret inputs, Inspector Ajit Debbarma, Officer-In-Charge of Bishramganj Police Station along with personnel of the 11 BN TSR destroyed 06 plots, eliminating nearly 12,000 (twelve thousand) matured Ganja plants in the deep forest areas at Amarendranagar under Bishalgarh Sub-Division.
Simultaneously, a large-scale destruction operation was conducted under Sonamura Police Station leading by Inspector Tapas Das, Officer-In-Charge of Sonamura Police Station covering Kamalnagar, Ghatigarh, Dulunga area forest land with active support from 81 BN BSF, 49 BN BSF, 5th BN TSR, 9th BN TSR, 7th BN TSR, 11BN TSR, Sonamura sub-division forest teams, 14th BN women TSR and other sister agencies. A total of 34 illicit Ganja plots were destroyed, uprooting approximately 4 lakh matured Ganja plants.

In the Madhupur PS area, acting on secret inputs, Inspector Debajit Chattarjee, Officer-In-Charge of Madhupur Police Station along with personnel of the 11 BN TSR, Forest Officers destroyed 06 plots, eliminating nearly 30,000 (thirty thousand) matured Ganja plants in forest areas at Kartailya & Konaban under Bishalgarh Sub-Division.
In total, over 4.42 lakh matured Ganja plants were destroyed, marking one of the largest illegal Ganja (Cannabis) destruction drive in one day in the district. Sepahijala District Police reiterated its commitment to a drug-free society through strict continuous enforcement measures.
