Agartala, Tripura,15th of December, 2025 : With the objective of developing the Tripura Tea industry and enhancing the acceptance and popularity of “Tripura Tea” at all levels, as in previous years, the Tripura Tea Development Corporation, with the support of the Tea Board of India, has once again organized a running competition titled “Run for Tea”.
The event aims to encourage sportspersons of the State as well as people from all sections of society. The rally will be held on 17-12-2025 at 6:30 a.m., starting from the premises of the Birchandra State Central Library.
3 KM run for Men/Women : The rally start from Tea Corner, Birchandra State Central Library – IGM Chowmuhani – Paradise Chowmuhani – Post office Chowmuhani – Surjya Chowmuhani – Kaman Chowmuhani- Jackson Gate – Orient Chowmuhani – Old RMS – IGM Chowmuhani – finish at Tea Corner, Birchandra State Central Library
A 3-kilometre running competition has been arranged separately for boys and girls. It is expected that around more than 200 boys and girls will participate in the event.
Arrangements have been made to award cash prizes along with certificates to the 1st, 2nd, and 3rd place winners in both the boys’ and girls’ categories. The prize money is as follows:
- 1st Prize: ₹5,000
- 2nd Prize: ₹3,000
- 3rd Prize: ₹2,000
In addition, 10 more participants will be awarded a prize of ₹1,000 each.
On the occasion of Run for Tea 2025, an open rally has been organized, in which around 2,000 citizens from various sections of society are expected to participate.
Hon’ble Minister for Industries, Santana Chakma, will be present as the inauguration of the event. Also present will be the Hon’ble Social Welfare & Social Education, Sports Minister Tinku Roy, Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and MLA Dipak Majumder, West Tripura Zilla Saha-Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil, Secretary, Industries and Commerce Department, Kiran Gitte, Director, Industries and Commerce Department, Dr. Dipak Kumar and District Magistrate and Collector of Dr. Vishal Kumar, along with other distinguished guests.
The programme will be presided over by the Chairman of the Tripura Tea Development Corporation, Advocate Samir Ranjan Ghosh.
