New Delhi, Delhi, 29th of December, 2025 : Achievements Of MDoNER During The Year 2025.

  1. Strengthening of the Logistics Sector in NER

 Pursuant to the directives of the 71st North East Council (NEC) Plenary, in July 2024, an Inter-Ministerial Committee (IMC) was constituted under this Ministry to provide comprehensive recommendations for improvement of logistics efficiency in NER and its integration with the national logistics grid. Subsequently, State Logistics Policy (SLP) has been notified in Sikkim, while similar notifications are under process in Nagaland and Meghalaya. Notifications for preparation of State Logistics Master Plans have been done in Arunachal Pradesh, Tripura, and Nagaland, while similar exercises are underway in remaining NE States.

  1. North East Science and Technology Cluster [NEST]

This Ministry has sanctioned establishment of the North East Science and Technology Cluster at IIT Guwahati at a cost of Rs 22.98 crore to promote Research, Innovation & Skill Development in North East India, inaugurated on 3rd November 2025. The NEST cluster will support an Innovation Hub on Grassroots, a Technology Hub for Semiconductor and Artificial Intelligence, a Centre for Excellence for Innovation in Bamboo based technology and other Biodegradable, eco-friendly Plastics and augment entrepreneurial promotion, skill development and Innovation Centre in the NER.

  1. Cluster based growth in Agarwood and Bamboo Production

 NER accounts for nearly 96% of the country’s agarwood production. Through initiative of this Ministry, India’s annual export quota for agarwood has been raised sixfold. An integrated proposal for developing agarwood clusters in Golaghat in Assam and Kadamtala in Tripura is under active consideration of the Ministry. This Ministry is now working for strengthening Traditional Bamboo Artisan Clusters to provide expanded market access, digital linkages, sustainable artisan livelihoods by taking up projects to integrate 4,000+ artisans into formal markets and upgrade 15 Common Facility Centres (CFCs). This Ministry has supported setting up of procurement units in Karbi Anglong (Assam) and Mokokchung (Nagaland) for creating value-added bamboo engineered products.

  1. 150 new GI registrations of the products from in NER

This Ministry is spearheading Geographical Indication (GI) tagging of unique, local products of Agri-Horti, Handloom, and Handicraft sector from the NER to promote and preserve the unique identity of these products. 150 distinctive products have been identified for GI Tagging in the next two years.

  1. Rising Norh East Investors Summit

The NER is poised to play a pivotal role in shaping India’s journey towards realizing its goal of a ‘Viksit Bharat’ by 2047. The Rising North East Investors Summit was held on 23-24 May 2025 in New Delhi with participation of big corporate houses, foreign investors and Public Sector Undertakings (PSUs). The event has brought about an Investment interest from various private investors and PSUs to the tune of RS 4.48 lakh crore.

7. Ashtalakshmi Darshan Youth Exchange Programme

The Ministry of Development of North Eastern Region (MDoNER) has launched the Ashtalakshmi Darshan–Youth Exchange Programme to strengthen emotional bonding, deepen people-to-people connections, and enhance awareness about the cultural richness and significance of the North Eastern Region (NER). The year-long programme will enable 1280 students aged 15–29 from 28 States/UTs to participate in 14-day immersive exposure visits to leading universities and institutions across the NER. The initiative has been formally launched on 1st November 2025, with the first batch of 40 students from Goa and Uttarakhand visited Rajiv Gandhi University, Arunachal Pradesh, marking the beginning of this extensive national outreach effort.

8. Bamboo Value Chain Development Program

 This Ministry is implementing a comprehensive bamboo value-chain development programme across the North Eastern Region (NER). The initiative adopts an end-to-end approach encompassing skill development, cluster strengthening, infrastructure creation, engineered bamboo product development, and market-linkage interventions to unlock the full economic potential of the sector. Under various NEC schemes, a total of 25 bamboo-sector projects amounting to 236.53 crore have been sanctioned for holistic development of the bamboo ecosystem in the NER. These projects cover enterprise development, artisan support, training, infrastructure creation, and product diversification. Two major scalable project models have been developed for sectoral expansion. The Engineered Bamboo Products Project (70.98 crore under PM-DevINE) focuses on establishing treatment, laminating, and fabrication units for high-value engineered bamboo products such as boards and panels, molded furniture, charcoal briquettes, and composite bamboo goods, with applications in construction, housing, furniture, and industrial uses. The Strengthening of Traditional Bamboo Artisan Clusters model (11.52 crore under SoNEC) aims to modernize traditional handicraft clusters through design development, common facilities, toolkits, skill upgradation, and micro-enterprise formation, enhancing productivity and market readiness for domestic and export markets. Ministry has also issued a policy directive for collaboration with major Market Access and Digital Commerce Partners to increase the market reach of bamboo products made by the artisans of the region. In addition, NECBDC has implemented extensive skill-development programmes, training 5,068 bamboo artisans and officials over the last three years.
