Agartala, Tripura, 29th of December, 2025 : A three-day training programme on the Community Forest Rights (CFR) and Forest Rights Act (FRA) commenced at SIPARD on 29 December with the inauguration by Shri Subhasis Das, Director, Tribal Welfare. The programme was attended by Ms. Aripta Choudhuri, Associate Professor, SIPARD, and coordinated by Mr. Abdur Rahman Choudhury, Training Specialist, TRESP.
Addressing the participants, Shri Subhasis Das emphasized the importance of in-depth understanding of CFR and FRA for achieving both forest conservation and sustainable livelihoods for forest-dependent communities. He highlighted that effective implementation of the Act can create mutual benefits for communities and the State, and urged officials to actively engage in learning to strengthen grassroots-level execution.
As the nodal department for CFR implementation in tribal areas, the Tribal Welfare Department organized the programme to sensitize officials from different administrative levels on the provisions and benefits of CFR and FRA. A total of 30 officials from various subdivisions are participating in the training.
The three-day programme features sessions by SIPARD-empanelled resource persons, including experts from UNDP-supported projects, focusing on community rights, CFR provisions, and practical strategies to protect forest resources while enhancing the livelihoods of forest dwellers and primitive tribal groups across the State.
