TRESP Organised State Level Workshop At Pragya Bhawan.

Agartala, Tripura, 31st of December 2025 : The Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP) organized a one-day state-level workshop at Pragya Bhavan on December 30, 2025, aimed at enhancing understanding of multi-sectoral project planning and implementation. The workshop was inaugurated by the Hon’ble Minister for Tribal Welfare, Government of Tripura, Shri Bikash Debbarma.

The workshop focused on strengthening coordination among key line departments involved in TRESP, including Agriculture, Horticulture, ARDD, Fisheries, TRLM, Education, PWD, and DoIT. Participants were oriented on the fundamentals of multi-sectoral project design, implementation mechanisms, and inter-departmental convergence. Special sessions highlighted livelihood sector challenges, current achievements, best practices, and successful field-level interventions. On the occasion, laptops provided to TRESP personnel were distributed by the Hon’ble Minister.

Senior officials including Director Shri Shubhashis Das, Secretary Dr. Shashi Kumar, and Shri T. K. Chakma, IAS, shared insights on various dimensions of the project. In his inaugural address, Minister Shri Bikash Debbarma appreciated the collective efforts of officers and staff engaged in implementing the project and encouraged continued commitment toward inclusive development.

TRESP is a World Bank-funded project with a total outlay of ₹1,400 crore, being implemented from March 2024 to June 2029. The project operates across three core sectors—Livelihoods, Education, and Roads & Connectivity. Under the Livelihoods component, TRESP is actively working in 23 tribal-dominated blocks across 8 districts, promoting agriculture, animal husbandry, and fisheries-based livelihoods.

The workshop also featured humble presence of ADM & Collectors from different districts and detailed technical sessions on project targets, operational guidelines, and implementation strategies. These sessions were led by Chief Operating Officer Shri Gajendra Verma, Institution Building Specialist Ms. Sonali Laskar, and GIS Specialist Shri Naorem Singhjit Singh.

Significant progress under the Livelihoods sector was highlighted, with 1,616 Producer Groups formed against a target of 2,500. Financial assistance of ₹50,000 each has been provided to 1,055 Producer Groups, amounting to ₹5.03 crore. Additionally, working capital support of ₹6 lakh each has been extended to 856 Producer Groups, totaling ₹51.36 crore, enabling sustainable economic activities. At present, 545 Producer Groups are successfully operating viable enterprises. Plans are also underway for establishing 23 Community Managed Training Centres, 5 Farmer Producer Organizations (FPOs), and 23 Model Cluster Level Federations (CLFs).

Under the infrastructure component, contracts have already been awarded for 50 out of 88 proposed roads in tribal areas. In the education sector, work orders have been issued for 11 out of 16 school buildings, alongside initiatives on teacher professional development, curriculum strengthening, and subject-wise competency assessments.

With coordinated efforts from seven implementing departments, TRESP continues to demonstrate strong progress. Ongoing capacity-building initiatives through SIPARD and technical support from the Tripura Space Application Centre (T-SAC) are further strengthening service delivery and project implementation in tribal areas.
