Agartala, Tripura, 6th of January, 2026 : Players from a total of five countries, including India, participated in the International-Level Karate Championship held at Dumurjala Stadium in West Bengal. Representing India, young karate players from the state of Tripura also took part in the international-level championship.

According to sources, On December 28, 2025, the young players from the state competed in the karate championship representing India. Additionally, on January 3 and 4 this year, the state’s young players also participated in karate events under the Khelo India program. A total of 24 karate players from Tripura represented India at the events.
Across these competitions, the State’s young Karate players won a total of 9 gold medals, 14 silver medals, and 14 bronze medals at the international level, and secured an overall total of 39 medals during the two-day Khelo India Youth Gamesevents. After the closing of the competitions, the young players arrived in Agartala by train from Kolkata on Tuesday afternoon.
In these events, the coaches of the state’s young players included Mustak Miah, Abhinash Sarkar, and others players. On Tuesday afternoon, parents and relatives of the young players were present at Agartala Railway Station to encourage and welcome them. As the players and coaches got down from the train, they were warmly received with garlands and bouquets, and were specially felicitated and congratulated.

Interacted with media, coach Mostak Miah said that they are extremely happy and proud to have brought glory to the country and the state by securing fourth place for India at the international level in karate. He stated that despite limited time and a lack of adequate infrastructure, the young players of the state have been able to achieve this success, which is truly a matter of pride for both the nation and the state. He further expressed confidence that in the coming days, these young players from the state will continue to participate in international-level karate competitions, win more medals, and bring greater recognition to the country and the state.
