Chief Minister Of Tripura Dr. Manik Saha Inaugurates Three-Day Swadeshi Mela 2026.

Agartala, Tripura, 9th of January, 2026 : With the initiative of Agartala Municipal Corporation Three-day (January 9 to January 11) Swadeshi Mela (Swadeshi fair) organized in Collaboration with the State Government at Swami Vivekananda ground, Agartala, Tripura.

In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha inaugurated the Swadeshi Mela today.

Addressing at the inaugural ceremony of Swadeshi Mela Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Swadeshi Mela is not merely a commercial or cultural event; rather, it is a powerful symbol of self-reliance, indigenous producers, cultural heritage, and economic self-sufficiency. He said that the State Government is continuously working to give practical shape to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call for “Vocal for Local” and a self-reliant India. Atmanirbhar Bharat is not merely a slogan; it is a people’s movement, where every citizen can become a partner in the nation’s development by using indigenous products. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has said that India has today become self-sufficient in many areas. Using the goods that are available within our country and that we can produce ourselves is our moral responsibility.

“The country will be able to achieve the goal of building a developed India by 2047. The core objective of “Vocal for Local” is to encourage the production of indigenous goods, motivate people to use them, and become economically self-reliant. This will reduce dependence on others and help pave the way toward self-reliance. The present state government is also striving to move forward with a Swadeshi mindset.” Chief Minister added.

The Chief Minister state that such initiatives are extremely timely and important in implementing Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s call to use Swadeshi products. Atmanirbhar Bharat is not a single programme; it is a collective resolve of 140 crore Indians. The Chief Minister also said that to build Tripura as a self-reliant state, the state government is giving top priority to locally produced goods. Special emphasis is being placed on improving quality, innovation, technology-driven production, and market expansion, so that our products gain acceptance in both national and international markets. He said that Tripura is today ahead in many areas. People can clearly perceive the state’s progress in various fields such as law and order, education, tourism, the economy, and connectivity.

Highlighting the occasion, Chief Minister Dr. Saha remarked that through cultural programmes, folk music, traditional exhibitions, and discussion sessions at the fair, efforts have been made to highlight the diverse cultural landscape of the state. Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that the true success of the Swadeshi Mela lies in every citizen giving importance to the use of indigenous products. Only then will it be possible to build a self-reliant Tripura and a self-reliant India. In this direction, Swadeshi Mela 2026 is a strong and meaningful step.

Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder, delivered a welcome address at the inaugural session of the event. He said that  Swadeshi Mela 2026 will be held from 9 January to 11 January 2026. The fair has been organized with the objective of creating awareness about indigenous products, in line with Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s slogan “Vocal for Local.” The Mayor expressed hope that this fair would stand as a living testament to the State’s development vision. Through this fair, local producers and artisans will get a significant opportunity to market their own products.

At the event, Hon’ble MP Rajib Bhattacharjee said that the fair has been organised with the objective of promoting the use of Swadeshi products and encouraging their production. Prime Minister Narendra Modi has laid emphasis on the use of indigenous products and their promotion. Through this, the country will move forward on the path of self-reliance and become economically self-sufficient. The present State Government is also striving to build Tripura as a self-reliant state. He called upon everyone to come forward to give meaningful shape to Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s vision of “Vocal for Local.”

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Hon’ble Deputy Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Manika Das Datta, MLA Ratan Chakraborty, Secretary of the Industries and Commerce Department Kiran Gitte, West Tripura District Magistrate and Collector Dr. Vishal Kumar, other corporators four zones of Agartala and many other distinguished  dignitaries were present in the event.
