Eminent State Personalities Honoured At 44th Agartala Book Fair 2026 For Outstanding Contributions To Art, Literature And Culture.

Agartala, Tripura, 14th of January, 2026 : For notable contributions in various fields, eminent personalities were honoured with different awards on the book fair stage today. This year, the Lalon Award for significant contribution to folk culture was conferred on Satyaranjan Debbarma of Kalyan Thakur Para, Birendranagar, West District.

The Bhismadev Smriti Puraskar (Bhismadev Smriti Award) for notable short story writing in Bengali or Kokborok was awarded to Narendra Debbarma of Dhaleswar, Agartala. The Salil Krishna Debbarma Smriti Award for significant contributions to Bengali and Kokborok literature was presented to Dr. Narayan Bhattacharjee of Bardowali, Agartala.

The Radhamohan Thakur Smriti Award for the best publication in the Bengali language was awarded to Bangla Academy Agartala Publications for the book Drupadi Bhashar Atma Anusandhan: Banga Bangali & Bangla Bhasha, authored by Dr. Rabindra Kumar Datta.

The Daulat Ahmed Smriti Award for the best publication in the Kokborok language was conferred on Sanghati Pustakalaya for the book Kathamathun, written by Rabindra Kishore Debbarma. The award for the best little magazine was presented to Dhatrimukh magazine of Khowai.

For special contributions to dance, the Satya Ram Reang Smriti Award was conferred on Dr. Arpita Roy of Agartala. For special contributions to music, the Ashwini Biswas Smriti Award was awarded to Dr. Alak Acharjee of Agartala. The Sumangal Sen Smriti Award for special contributions to painting and sculpture was presented to Krishna Debnath of Belonia. For special contributions to theatre, the Ajit Majumdar Smriti Award was conferred on Pintu Das of Camper Bazar, Agartala.

The guests at the programme presented the awardees with shawls, citations, and cheques as prize money. Among the various stalls participating in the 44th Book Fair, Parul Library secured the first prize for the best stall, followed by Parul Prakashani in second place and P.P. Publication in third place.

In addition, a photo exhibition and competition for photojournalists was organized at this year’s Agartala Book Fair. In the competition, Rohan Chakraborty secured first place, Parthajit Datta second place, and Rajesh Roy third place. The guests handed over the awards to the winners at the ceremony.
