Agartala, Tripura, 18th of January, 2026 : The 18th Convocation of National Institute of Technology Agartala was held on Saturday, 17th January 2026 at the Institute Campus (Swami Vivekananda Seminar Hall).

Hon’ble Governor of Tripura Indrasena Reddy Nallu was the Chief Guest of the event and delivered the Convocation Address.
Addressing at the 18th Convocation of NIT Hon’ble Governor of Tripura Indra Sena Reddy Nallu said that this convocation ceremony is not merely an event, but a public recognition of years of discipline, perseverance, and character building. This day marks the celebration of silent sacrifices, continuous efforts, and the courageous journey of turning dreams into reality. He extended his heartfelt congratulations to all the graduating students on this significant achievement. At today’s convocation ceremony, the Governor presented Gold Medals and certificates to 26 students who secured first position in various departments.
Highlighting the 18th Convocation of NIT, Governor remarked that NIT Agartala is a symbol of Tripura’s educational aspirations. It was established in 1965 as Tripura Engineering College and was upgraded to an NIT in 2006, serving the nation for nearly six decades. As an institution of national importance, it not only shoulders national responsibilities but also represents the values and talent of Tripura. Referring to the present time in India as a crucial turning point, he said that under the leadership of Prime Minister Narendra Modi, the country is moving forward on the path of “Viksit Bharat 2047.” Artificial intelligence, clean energy, biotechnology, digital infrastructure, and space technology are reshaping the world.

NIT Agartala, an Institute of National Importance and Centrally funded technical Institution was established by Government of India with the mission to herald excellence in technical education and research in the North-East region. Presently, 5363 studentsare enrolled at NIT Agartala. The Institute offers B.Tech in 9 branches, 24specializations in M. Tech Level along with 5 branches in Dual Degree. The institute also offers MBA, MCA, M. Sc. and Doctoral Programs. NIT Agartala started offering a 4-Year Integrated Teacher Education Programme (ITEP) leading to B.Sc.-B.Ed., from 2023. At present, more than 300 research scholars are pursuing their Ph.D. in various fields.

In this convocation, 32 Ph.D., 102M.Tech,24 MCA, 33 MBA, 33 M.Sc.,870 B. Tech, 16BS, 30 BT,44 BSMS and07 BTMT graduates received their degrees.
NIT Agartala contribution is at par with the top technical Institutes of the country. In the year 2024-25, NIT Agartala fraternity published research papers in prestigious Science Citation Indexed (SCI) and Scopus Indexed journals. Among these 344 papers are Scopus Indexed. In addition to that, 04International Conferences and 04 National workshops were also organized in the year 2024-2025. It is noteworthy that, NIT Agartala also possesses good record in terms of achievements related to patenting: 9 patents filed, 4 patents published and 10 patents have been granted in the year 2025.
The Institute has a Center for Career Development that coordinates student training and placement opportunities. Beside this, the Center conducts workshops, organizes webinars, through hybrid mode for student career prospects.
The Institute boasts an impressive B. Tech. student placement rate of 80.72% during Academic year 2024-25, with top recruiters. A total of 927 job offers were received from reputed organizations such as MECON, Oil India Ltd, BEL, Saint-Gobin, Google, Amazon, L&T Group, Capgemini, Wipro, Oracle, JSPL, Infosys, Reliance Industries Ltd, Vedanta Ltd, Tata Group, DXC Technology, Alstom, Accenture, Amdocs, Hyundai Motors, Fidelity International, VISA, and JSW. The highest salary package offered to students was ₹52 LPA, and the average salary packagewas ₹9.7 LPA.
The CCD has further strengthened its industry collaborations, enabling students to access training and internship opportunities during summer and winter breaks. During the academic period, students of the Institute have undergone internships in various reputed organizations. To name a few, Google, Intel, Wipro, Cairn Oil, Saint Gobain, IITs, ONGC, IOCL, NEEPCO etc.In the year 2024-25, the internships were arranged for nearly 90% of students. The centre also facilitates the students to learn new things as per contemporary needs beyond academic input.

Collaborative research is strengthened through MOUs with industries and academic institutions in India and abroad. Faculty members secured major projects funded by SERB, DST, DBT, CSIR, DAE, DRDO, MeitY, ISRO, and other national and international agencies. In the year 2024-25, the Institute received approximately₹2.83 crore under Sponsored Research Project Grants.
NIT Agartala proudly mentioned that, Prof. (Dr.) Apu Kumar Saha, Department of Mathematics; Dr. Jayanta K. Rakshit, Department of Electronics and Instrumentation Engineering (EIE); Dr. Biswajit Saha, Department of Physics; Dr. Neeraj Sharma, Department of Production Engineering; Dr. Biswanath Bhunia, Department of Bio Engineering; and Dr. Suyel Namasudra, Department of Computer Science and Engineering (CSE),have been recognized among thetop 2% of the world’s most influential scientists, as identifiedbyStanford University, USA.
NIT Agartala has signed MoUs with several institutions of national and international repute. In total, the Institute has signed more than 53 MoUs with leading academic institutions and industrial organizations to promote academic and research collaborations. These include MoUs with IIT Bombay, The Art of Living (TAOL), CSIR-NIIST, South Dakota School of Mines and Technology (USA), NAM Tech, Texmin Foundation, IIT Madras, IIT Hyderabad, IIT Jammu, University of Durham (UK), Directorate of Information Technology (DIT), Government of Tripura, North Eastern Space Applications Centre (NESAC), Meghalaya, and others. Under these MoUs, NIT Agartala will jointly conduct conference, workshop, short term courses, research work, internship & training, access to laboratory, library and other supporting facilities.
To further support our employees and their families, MoUs have been signed with six major hospitals, including Desun Hospital, Kolkata; ILS Hospital Agartala; B. M. Birla Heart Research Institute, Kolkata; TMC, Agartala; HCGEKO Cancer Hospital, Kolkata, and Disha Eye Hospitals Pvt Ltd., Kolkata, enabling treatment at CGHS rates. Several additional proposals are also currently in process. Together, these initiatives reflect our continued commitment to the health, safety, and well-being of the NIT Agartala community.
The Institute has plethora of technical clubs including ACM club, Robotics club, SAE Club, Aviation Club, Literary Club, Music Club, Photographic Club, E-Cell etc., to help students to develop techno managerial skills etc.

Besides this, the Institute conducts awareness programs and other activities throughout the year. Some of these include Yoga Day, Swachh Bharat Abhiyaan, Rashtriya Ekta Diwas, National Science Day, Hindi Saptah,Study Connect Program, Vigilance Week, Moksha (cultural fest) etc.
NIT Agartala has shown remarkable performance in the areas of Academic activities, students Placement, Infrastructure, Academics-Industry Interface, Physical Education & Sports and Alumni Involvement. There has been continuous and constant support from our Alumni in motivating the students.
The much-awaited convocation ceremony is our promise to quality education that has been imparted to the 2025 graduates.
