BSF Tripura Frontier has been successful in motivating the active insurgents to surrender & join the mainstream. Resultantly, number of Insurgent Cadres, particularly of “NLFT (BM) Outfit” have renounced the path of violence and joined the main stream after surrendering before the BSF & other SFs.
In the series of surrender by the IIGs, today, 02 more active Cadres of NLFT (BM) have opted for “GHAR WAPSI”. One of them is an active old Cadre namely Khitish Debbarma @ Kwkhwi S/o Lt Subal Debbarma R/o Village- Ichacherra, PS– Champahour, Distt- Khowai and another is Swapan Debbarma @ Bathar S/o Surender Debbarma R/o Vill- Golakbari, PS- Champahour , Distt- Khowai.
Khitish Debbarma @ Kwkhwi reportedly joined NLFT (BM) Outfit in the Year 2019 and underwent vigorous training in Weapon & Tactics. As on date, he has been listed as an active cadre of NLFT (BM) as per the list published by State Govt. Swapan Debbarma @ Bathar reportedly joined the NLFT (BM) in the Year 2020 and has been continuing as its active member.
In the recent years, large numbers of NLFT (BM) Cadres have surrendered before BSF and other SFs, which indicate their eagerness to renounce the path of violence. It is pertinent to mention here that, till date, total 31 Insurgents of NLFT (including the present 02) have surrendered before BSF Tripura, which includes 23 Cadres who surrendered in between Year 2017 to 2020, 06 surrendered during last one year of 2021 and 02 on this first day of 2022.
BSF Tripura Frontier appeals to the youth of the State not to get misguided by the false promises of the Insurgent groups and not to follow the path of violence & extreme hardships. Further, it is appeal to all the Cadres of NLFT to renounce violence and return back to the mainstream to lead a happy & peaceful family life.
Besides, its persistence efforts on Anti-Insurgency front, BSF has also been carrying out our other mandates including defending Indo-Bangladesh International Border and checking border crimes like smuggling, illegal infiltrations etc.
Today, on specific BSF intelligence input, troops of BOP NC Nagar, Ex- 133 Bn BSF in joint Operation with local police party have seized huge consignment of narcotics i.e. 5,200 Nos Yaba tablets worth Rs. 26,00,000/- along with 01 Revolver, 01 Ammunition from the house of Suman Miah S/o Late Taher Miya R/o Village Durgapur, PS Sonamura, Distt- Sepahijala near IB and apprehended him. All seized items along with the apprehended person handed over to police party on spot for further legal action.
During this period of last one year i.e. w.e.f 01st Jan 2021 to 31st Dec 2021 huge cache of contraband articles including narcotics, drugs, cattle etc worth RS. 35,64,17,131/- have been seized by the vigilant troops of Tripura Frontier BSF. In addition, 45,07,039 Nos Ganja saplings worth Rs. 24,14,75,000/- have been also destroyed by cutting and burning. Further, 98 Nos Bangladeshi Nationals and 120 Nos Indian Nationals (Total – 218), who were involved in various border crimes & illegal infiltrations have been intercepted and apprehended.
The Field Formations of BSF Tripura are regularly carrying out Civic Action Programmes in their respective areas to create feeling of belongingness and to boost confidence among the population residing in the remote far-flung bordering areas. During last year, an amount of Rs. 19,58,058/- has been spent in conducting various Civic Action Programmes, which includes :
- Providing Kits & Equipment for Safe Drinking Water, Health Support Kits, Education Support Kits etc.
- Conducting Pre-Recruitment Training for employability in Armed Forces, Driving Training of local youths etc.
- Conducting Health Camps, Cultural Programs, Weapon Exhibitions, Mela / Fairs, Village Meetings, Public Interactions etc.
- Besides, BSF Field Formations keep extending emergency services to the needy border population and continue their efforts in sensitizing border populace from time to time in the fight against the deadly COVID pandemic. These philanthropic gestures of BSF are being highly applauded by all section of society.
BSF Tripura also conducted multi-pronged campaigns in all the BSF Campuses & their peripheral surrounding areas like:
- Promoting the noble cause under “Swachh Bharat Abhiyan, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav” etc.
- BSF Tripura Frontier also brought “Swarnim Mashaal (Victory Flame)” to ICP Agartala to pay homage to the heroic soldiers, who made the supreme sacrifice for the country.
- Tree Plantation at various locations like Hospitals, Schools, Railway Stations & other public places and BSF Campuses. Last year, BSF Tripura planted total 1,36,115 Saplings.
BSF Tripura is always in the forefront in organizing various sports / games by involving the local populace & the school children to foster sportsmanship spirit amongst them. Some of the highlights of Year 2021 were:
- “Maitree Cycle Rally”, which started on 10th January 2021 West Bengal & after 66 days it terminated at BSF BOP Silkore, (Mizoram) on 17th March 2021 after covering a total distance of 3266 Kms, out of which 817 Kms was covered in the State of Tripura.
- The First such “BSF-BGB Football Maitree Match” was conducted on 18th March 2021 at 0900 hrs at Brijendra Kishor Football Stadium, Belonia, District- South Tripura.
- Several “BSF Half Marathons” near different BSF Campuses.
- During the period from 23rd Aug 2021 to 02nd Oct 2021, total 5002 participants including members of the Force, their family members & Civilians) actively participated in “Fit India Freedom Run – 2.0, Azadi Ka Amrit Mahotsav – 2021” & Mini Marathon Events covering a cumulative 17,180 Kms, which is also a record in itself.
During the last year i.e. 2021, 02 Inspectors General BSF & Region Comdr BGB Level Talks held in the month of June & Nov 2021 and 05 Sector Comdrs Level Co-ordination Meetings held at Panisagar (03 Nos) & Udaipur (02). During above talks, various Bilateral Border Issues like Insurgency, Smuggling of various Contraband Articles particularly Drugs, Narcotics, Cattle etc, Border Developmental Works, Border Fencing to cover the existing Gaps, Border Infrastructure at ICPs (02 Nos) & LCSs (06 Nos), Confidence Building Measures – Conduct of Sports, Games and Cultural Activities etc were discussed at length. BSF & BGB Comdrs agreed to initiate preemptive measures in creating an environment of peace and tranquility along the International border by amicably resolving all the pending issues.
BSF is committed to its multi-faceted duties and tasks as a professional Border Guarding Force, simultaneously maintaining healthy and friendly relationship with counterpart Border Guard Bangladesh (BGB), State Civil Administration, general population particularly in the bordering areas and all sections of the society.
