
Assam rifles in a jt operation with Assam police recovered 20000 WY tablets of worth Rs 1 Cr approximately, from Lakhipur, Cachar district of Assam and apprehended one drug peddler.
In yet another success in its crusade against Drugs menace, Assam Rifles under Inspector General Assam Rifles (East) in a joint operation with Cachar police recovered 20000 WY tablets of worth Rs 1 Cr approximately from Lakhipur sub division, Cachar district of Assam and apprehended one drug peddler on 10 October 2023.
The recovered consignment and apprehended individual were handed over to Assam Police for further legal proceedings.
Drug trafficking is a major cause of concern in North East due to its proximity to Golden Triangle. Assam Rifles, rightly christened as the ‘Sentinels of Northeast’ have continued their efforts against Drug menace which is continuously fuelling insurgency in the area.
The operation gave a major setback to drug fuelled insurgency in the area and also contributed to the goal of preventing the youth falling prey to the drug menace.
Assam Rifles will continue their efforts to achieve a drug free society.
