New Delhi, Delhi, 16th of March, 2026 : As conversations sparked by International Women’s Day continue to resonate, documentary filmmaker, children’s education advocate, and explorer of human consciousness Priyanka Lugani has shared a reflection on the profound role women play in shaping the earliest foundations of human life and awareness.
Drawing inspiration from nature, Lugani describes life as beginning with a single seed; a point of immense potential that, when nurtured with care and the right environment, grows into something strong and deeply rooted. She believes the same principle applies to the development of a child.
“Just like a seed, a child enters the world carrying limitless potential; a blueprint of who they are meant to become. Every experience in the early years becomes nourishment. Every word becomes sunlight. Every habit becomes water. Every value becomes soil,” Lugani observes.
According to her, women instinctively understand this process of nurturing life. From the earliest stages of development, a mother often becomes the first environment a child experiences. Biologically, every child inherits the mother’s immune system, lymphatic foundation, and the earliest sense of safety through her body. Emotionally and socially as well, women frequently play a defining role in shaping a child’s first habits, language, resilience, and understanding of love.
While discussions around Women’s Day often focus on leadership, professional achievements, and representation in public life, Lugani emphasizes that empowerment also exists in quieter, everyday spaces. It is present in the patience of teaching, the compassion embodied in caregiving, the mindfulness of nutrition, and the intention behind play.
“In India today, where tradition and rapid change coexist, conscious upbringing has become more important than ever. Children are born with joy in their hearts and wonder in their eyes. Education should not overwrite this natural state; it should protect and expand it,” she notes.
This philosophy forms the foundation of Alma Kids, an initiative that focuses on holistic childhood development by integrating education, nourishment, music, movement, and conscious play. The approach also encourages the use of thoughtfully developed toys designed to stimulate imagination and mindful engagement among children.
“At its core, the intention is simple: to nurture the child’s natural state; empty, free, and limitless, while guiding it with structure and awareness,” Lugani adds.
She further describes women as the first gardeners of the human seed, whose influence extends far beyond childhood and ultimately shapes the consciousness of generations.
“If everything begins with one seed, then every conscious woman plants the future. And when nurtured with awareness, that seed grows into a forest of possibility,” she concludes.
