Dharmanagar, Tripura, 3rd of April, 2026 : Ahead of the upcoming by-election in the 56–Dharmanagar Assembly Constituency, the District Administration has undertaken a unique initiative. To make the electoral process environmentally friendly, the “Green Protocol” of the Election Commission is being strictly followed.
The aim of this initiative is to give equal importance to environmental protection alongside the practice of democracy. Cloth banners are already being used in place of plastic at the Postal Ballot Facilitation Centre, BBI. This is not merely a symbolic step but has been adopted as a standard practice. The administration has stated that the same policy will be implemented at every polling booth in the Dharmanagar constituency on the day of the by-election, scheduled for April 9.
While ensuring a free and fair electoral process, the primary objective of this initiative is to reduce the harmful impact on the environment. By eliminating plastic use, the administration seeks to reduce waste and send a strong message in favor of environmental conservation.The initiative has been welcomed by conscious citizens, who believe such measures will set an example for future elections as well. With the message that the festival of democracy should not become a burden on the environment, Dharmanagar is moving forward with a clear vision—one vote, one planet, both deserving equal respect.
