Call For A Drug-Free Society As Part Of The ‘Save The Generation’ Campaign.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 1st of March, 2026 : Taking an initiative to spread a strong social message against addiction, gambling, and corruption, the Dharmanagar Sub-Divisional Committee of the Democratic Youth Federation of India (DYFI) organized a one-day cricket tournament on Sunday at a ground near Kalachhara Bazaar. The event was held under the slogan “Let’s Go to the Playground” as part of the ‘Save the Generation’ campaign.With the call—“Not with drugs, gambling, or mafia money, but with the spirit of building a better society” and “Join hands together to build a new dawn”—four Assembly-based teams from the subdivision—jubarajnagar, Kurti Kadamtala, Dharmanagar, and Bagbasa—participated in the tournament.In the first semifinal, jubarajnagar defeated Kurti Kadamtala by 6 wickets to advance to the final. After winning the toss and opting to bat first, Kurti Kadamtala posted a competitive total, but jubarajnagar’s batsmen delivered an impressive performance to secure victory.In the second semifinal, Dharmanagar beat Bagbasa by 14 runs to enter the final.The final match between Dharmanagar and jubarajnagar turned into an exciting contest, with Dharmanagar ultimately clinching the title by 30 runs. The trophy was handed over to the winning team by jubarajnagar MLA Shailendra Chandra Nath.

MLA Islam Uddin symbolically inaugurated the tournament with a ceremonial batting performance. Chief Guest Shailendra Chandra Nath also participated in fielding during the event.Among those present were DYFI Dharmanagar Sub -Divisional Secretary Arjun Nath, President Sani Chandra, members Joydeep Deb, Bidyut Deb, and Biplab Deb. Former student-youth leader and CPI(M) Kalachhara Area Secretary Joynal Uddin, along with women leader Bijita Nath and several other distinguished personalities, also attended the program. According to the organizers, the primary objective of the tournament was to unite the youth through sports in order to build a Tripura free from addiction, gambling, corruption, and violence. Through competitive spirit on the field, the young participants conveyed a strong message of unity to society.
