Kumarghat, Tripura, 25th of February, 2026 : The Central Bureau of Communication (CBC), Field Office Kailashahar, organized a Special Awareness Programme on Viksit Bharat – Swachhta Hi Seva, Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam, and Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan at PM Shri Saidabari SB School, Kumarghat, Unakoti district, Tripura, today.

The programme commenced with a tree plantation drive and cleanliness campaign within the school premises, symbolizing the collective commitment towards building a clean and green India. The activities were led by the Chief Guest, Shri Kanu Malakar, Pradhan of Vidyasagar Gram Panchayat under Kumarghat RD Block. The initiative promoted environmental sustainability, ecological conservation, and the importance of maintaining hygienic surroundings.
Addressing the gathering during the seminar session, the resource person Shri Manabandra Das, Chairman of the School Management Committee, emphasized the need to adopt cleanliness as a daily habit through active community participation. Highlighting the Ek Ped Maa Ke Naam initiative, he encouraged citizens to plant a tree in honor of their mothers. He noted that if the entire population of approximately 43 lakh in Tripura plants one tree each, it would significantly enhance air quality, conserve water resources, reduce pollution, and strengthen biodiversity across the state.
Speaking on the Nasha Mukt Bharat Abhiyan, he underscored the importance of collective efforts in tackling the growing issue of substance abuse and urged students and community members to pledge their support for a drug-free society.
Among others present at the programme were Smriti Bala Malakar, Member of Vidyasagar Gram Panchayat; Smt. Sangita Nath, GT; and Shri Anupam Majumder, Teacher of PM Shri Saidabari SB School.
The event featured a cleanliness drive, plantation of tree saplings, seminar, open quiz competition, and a cultural programme. Overall, the programme witnessed enthusiastic participation and successfully spread awareness on cleanliness, environmental protection, and drug-free living, reinforcing the vision of a developed and responsible India under Viksit Bharat.
