Chaos In Dharmanagar Amid Chaitra Sale Rush, Public Suffering Peaks Near Kalidighi.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 26th of March 2026 : With the by-election activity on one side and the rush of Chaitra month reduction sales on the other, Dharmanagar town has been pushed into a state of disorder. The area around Kalidighi has turned highly congested and uncomfortable, sparking anger among residents as well as emergency service personnel.

According to allegations, the Dharmanagar Municipal Council has set up several temporary stalls in front of Town Kali Bari and the Congress office as part of the Chaitra fair. However, the lack of proper planning in arranging these stalls has led to severe traffic congestion and road narrowing at one of the town’s key junctions—Netaji Statue Chowk.The situation has worsened to the extent that emergency services, especially fire brigade vehicles, are struggling to reach destinations on time during urgent situations. Pedestrians and motorists are also facing daily hardships, with dangerous conditions arising while navigating the turns near the Kali Bari and Congress office areas.

The increasing number of battery- operated e-rickshaws in the town has further complicated the situation. Their unregulated movement is reportedly adding significantly to the traffic congestion.A major point of controversy is the food stalls selling items like chop and meat set up by the municipal authority in front of the Kali temple. Many citizens have expressed strong dissatisfaction, stating that such stalls are inappropriate in front of a religious site and also contribute to crowding and visual clutter.

Locals believe that the authorities could have avoided the chaos by keeping key junctions free and placing stalls in a more organized manner. The lack of basic planning, they say, has turned the town center into a hub of disorder.Residents across Dharmanagar are shocked by the municipal council’s approach. What should have been a festive atmosphere has instead become a symbol of public inconvenience and administrative failure.
