Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Chaired State Level Cultural Advisory Committee Meeting.

Agartala, Tripura, 5th of August, 2025 : With the initiative of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Government of Tripura organized State Level Cultural Advisory Committee meeting at secretariat, Agartala, Tripura on Tuesday (5th August, 2025). Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha chaired the State Level Cultural Advisory Committee meeting with the members of the Committee.

Addressing at the State Level Cultural Advisory Committee meeting Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Culture plays the most important role in achieving our mental and spiritual peace. Efforts should be made to showcase the traditional mixed culture of the state to the world. For this, the development of culture should be turned into a mass movement. The Chief Minister said, culture is the ornament of a society. It is necessary to take steps to modernize our own culture with innovative thinking in line with the present. Efforts should also be made to nurture and care for the traditional mixed culture of the State. In this regard, efforts should be made to bring innovation in cultural activities while maintaining the traditional culture of the ethnic groups. Only then can the youth be attracted to our traditional culture.

Highlighting on the event, the Chief Minister remarked that Prime Minister Narendra Modi often emphasizes on skill development. Therefore, it is necessary to emphasize skill development in every field including culture. Special emphasis should be given to skill development and attractive presentation of artists in any field of the State. Talented artists should be identified from the village level and provided with necessary support. The Chief Minister also added that traditional cultures like Kirtan, puppet dance, and Jatra are being lost due to the pressure of modernity. Efforts should be made to revive them through innovative thinking. The Chief Minister called upon everyone to practice healthy culture and preserve and widely promote the heritage and culture of the state.

The chairman of the state-based Cultural Advisory Committee is the Chief Minister of the state. This reconstituted committee has a total of 39 members. Addressing at the event, Vice Chairman of the State Level Cultural Advisory Committee Subrata Chakraborty called on everyone, regardless of race or ethnicity, to come forward to protect the traditional culture of the state.

Secretary of the Information and Culture Department Dr. P. K. Chakraborty delivered a welcome address at the inaugural session of the event today. He said that in the financial year 2025-26, 19 new cultural programs have been included in the annual calendar of the Information and Culture Department. Through the Information and Culture Department, financial assistance is provided to various cultural organizations of the state for conducting cultural activities. So far, financial assistance has been provided to 24 cultural organizations in this financial year.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were, Director of Information & Cultural Affairs Department Bimbisar Bhattacharjee, Director of the Tourism Department Prashant Badal Negi, senior officers of the department and many others remained present in the meeting.
