Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha Flags Off Walkathon On The Occasion Of 15th Organ Donation Day.

Agartala, Tripura, 3rd of August, 2025 : Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha flagged off walkathon on the occasion of 15th Organ Donation Day at Amrakunja, Rabindra Satabarshiki Bhavan, Agartala, Tripura on Sunday (3rd August, 2025).

Addressing at the event Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that Organ donation is a great initiative that can save the lives of others. One person’s organ donation can save in 8 lives. Therefore, there is a need to increase public awareness about a great issue like organ donation. There can be no greater service to humanity than one person saving the life of another through organ donation. People have the opportunity to provide that service through organ donation. A person can save the lives of other people by donating important organs like their kidneys, liver, lungs, heart, etc. even after death.

Highlighting on the event, the Chief Minister remarked that our country is somewhat behind in terms of organ donation. One of the reasons for this is that people are not coming forward in terms of organ donation. Therefore, awareness needs to be created among people about organ donation. The Chief Minister said that due to the development of the state’s health infrastructure, kidney transplants are becoming possible in the State. The State Government has also taken the initiative of liver transplant. For this purpose, the State Organ and Tissue Transplant Organization has been established in 2023. The Chief Minister called on people to come forward in the field of organ donation. On this auspicious day, the Chief Minister paid tribute to all the organ donors and their families.

Amidst the distinguished dignitaries there were Kiran Gitte Secretary of Health and Family Welfare Department, GBP Hospital Medical Superintendent Dr. Shankar Chakraborty, Agartala Government Medical College Principal Dr. Anup Kumar Saha, and many other dignitaries were present at the event.
