Chowrangee Curates A Mesmerising Musical Soirée ‘ Gayaki, Gat, Ghazal’ At Taramati Baradari.

Hyderabad, Telangana, 1st of February, 2026 : Hyderabad’s vibrant cultural platform that celebrates India’s rich artistic heritage and diversity, hosted a soul-stirring evening of music titled ‘Gayaki, Gat, Ghazal’ at the historic Taramati Baradari, enthralling music lovers with an immersive and evocative experience.

This special edition of Chowrangee brought together an extraordinary ensemble of world-class musicians, each a maestro in their own right, sharing the stage to create a truly unique and harmonious musical dialogue. The evening unfolded as a seamless mélange of traditions, moods, and musical philosophies, reflecting the very essence of Chowrangee – dialogue, discovery, and harmony across cultures.

Music connoisseurs in the city witnessed a rare confluence of musical legends, Purbayan Chatterjee on sitar, Gayatri Asokan on vocals, along with Ishaan GhoshShikhar Naad QureshiAbshaar Ahmad, and Steve Thomas Kottoor, performing in unison. A highlight of the evening was the spellbinding jugalbandi between sitar and vocals, which mesmerised the audience and transported them into a trance-like state.

The thoughtfully curated repertoire featured evocative compositions such as WaterbirdLullabyGaraj GarajBarsan Lagi, and Pace of Mind, alongside timeless ghazals including Ishq Ishq HaiHarsoo Dikhayi Dete Hain, and Baat Karni Mujhse Mushkil (Mareez-e-Ishq). Each rendition resonated deeply with the audience, creating moments of quiet reflection and rapturous applause.

According to Dr Santanu Paul, President, Chowrangee; the night evolved into a free-flowing, magical conversation where classical, contemporary, and global influences blended effortlessly, leaving the audience with an unforgettable, transcendent musical experience and reaffirming Chowrangee’s commitment to curating meaningful cultural encounters in the city.

About the Artists

Purbayan Chatterjee is one of India’s leading sitarists, he carries forward the illustrious Senia Maihar legacy, seamlessly weaving classical depth with contemporary collaborations.

Gayatri Asokan is a versatile vocalist across playback, classical, and ghazal traditions. Gayatri’s emotive and fluid style lends warmth, lyricism, and soul to the ensemble.

Ishaan Ghosh is a rising star of the Farrukhabad gharana. He is trained under Pandit Nayan Ghosh. His playing is marked by clarity, speed, and imaginative rhythmic dialogue.

Shikhar Naad Qureshi a dynamic young percussionist blends traditional rhythmic structures with modern textures, adding energy and contemporary flair to the collective sound.

Abshaar Ahmad, a guitarist with a distinct contemporary style brings groove, melody, and colour, serving as a bridge between classical sensibilities and modern expression.

Steve Thomas Kottoor a collaborative keyboardist, crafts harmonic layers and ambient soundscapes that enrich and support the ensemble’s modern sonic palette.
