Dharmanagar, Tripura, 11th of April 2026 : Amid the by-election atmosphere, the town of Dharmanagar in North Tripura suddenly turned tense. On Friday evening, a heated altercation between two women at a business establishment named “Spotlight,” located on the northern bank of Kalidighi—one of the busiest areas in the town—created a stir after it escalated into a physical fight.According to reports, the dispute initially began inside the shop between the owner, Sunidhi Pal, and another woman, Poulomi Karmakar. The situation quickly went out of control and turned into a scuffle. Eventually, the clash spilled out onto the street, causing panic in the area and drawing a crowd of onlookers.Eyewitnesses promptly informed the Dharmanagar Women’s Police Station. Police arrived at the scene, brought the situation under control, and took both parties to the station.

Preliminary investigation suggests that the root of the conflict lies in an Instagram chat from nearly two years ago. Allegedly, some personal conversations between Sunidhi Pal and Amit Ghosh, the husband of Poulomi Karmakar, were recently circulated on social media. These chats reportedly hinted at a close relationship, which led to Poulomi’s anger. The long-suppressed issue suddenly erupted in public on Friday.Meanwhile, it has also been alleged that Poulomi’s mother, Shilpi Rani Karmakar, was harassed during the altercation, further complicating the situation.

Both sides filed counter-complaints at the police station the same night. However, police stated that the actual truth and responsibility will only be determined after a thorough investigation. For now, neither party has agreed to speak to the media.Tension continues to linger in Dharmanagar following the incident, which stands as a real-life example of how personal relationship conflicts can spill over into public space
