Agartala, Tripura, 22nd of July 2025 : With the initiative of Tripura Football Association Closing & Prize Giving Ceremony of Niljyoti- Rakhal Memorial Knock-Out Football Tournament organized at Umakanta Mini Stadium, Agartala, Tripura on Tuesday (22nd July, 2025).
Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha was as the chief guest at the Closing & Prize Giving Ceremony of Niljyoti- Rakhal Memorial Knock-Out Football Tournament at Umakanta Mini Stadium, Agartala today.
Interacted with media, Hon’ble Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha said that through sports, people can be well-structured not only physically but also mentally. It is possible to regulate life and stay away from the ill effects of addiction through sports. Prime Minister Narendra Modi often says that the next generation is the future of the country. If we do not provide opportunities for them, the country will not be able to move forward. The State Government is also taking various initiatives to improve the sports sector along with every other sector to achieve that goal.
The Chief Minister also added that many Synthetic turf fields have already been built for the development of football. Through sports, a competitive spirit can be developed from a young age. In that case, playing football is of great importance. Playing football not only makes you physically or mentally capable, but also helps you to become a competitor for the future. The State Government has taken various initiatives for the overall development of the sports sector. The people of the state are also seeing the results of this. The Chief Minister said that the State Government has brought the Khelo Tripura project like the Khelo India project for the development of the sports sector.
In today’s final match, Forward Club defeated Blood Mouth Club 2-0 to win the championship. The Chief Minister congratulated the players of both the champion and runner-up teams in today’s final match.
In today’s Closing & Prize Giving Ceremony apart from the Chief Minister Dr. Manik Saha, Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) and MLA Dipak Majumder, member of Tripura Legislative Assembly Pramod Reang, former Justice Arindam Lodh, President of Tripura Football Association Pranab Sarkar, Secretary of Tripura Football Association Amit Chowdhury, former Indian footballer Gautam Sarkar, social activist Shyamal Deb and many others remained present in the event.
