Dharmanagar, Tripura, 22nd of March, 2026 : Political activities are intensifying in Dharmanagar of North Tripura ahead of the upcoming by-election. On Sunday afternoon, a press conference was organized at the CPI(M) party office in Dharmanagar town.

The party’s state secretary and Leader of the Opposition, Jitendra Chaudhury, was present at the event.He was accompanied by CPI(M)’s nominated candidate for the Dharmanagar Assembly by-election, Amitabha Dutta, MLA Islam Uddin, along with other senior party leaders.Addressing the media, Jitendra Chaudhury clarified the party’s position regarding the upcoming by-election. He spoke about the current political situation in the state, raised several allegations against the ruling party, and highlighted various issues faced by the common people. He also asserted that CPI(M) would receive strong public support in the by-election and emphasized the need for a free and fair democratic electoral process. Candidate Amitabha Dutta, in his remarks, shared his experiences of directly interacting with local residents. He stated that people are seeking change and are eager to witness genuine development on the ground. He expressed confidence that voters would make the right decision.
Other leaders present at the conference also discussed key election issues, organizational preparedness, and ongoing public outreach programs. Overall, the political atmosphere surrounding the Dharmanagar by-election appears to be heating up, according to political observers.
