Amarpur, Tripura, 9th of January 2026 : The Central Young Kaipeng Association (CYKA) has organized The 16th State Level Sakungphai Festival 2026 here in Nipangrwmva village under Tuidu PS in Ampi nagar block in Gomati Tripura with great enthusiasm and dignity. On this three day long (7th to 9th January 2026) auspicious occasion a large number of Kaipeng people from all over state have assembled here in the programme with great interest & zeal to celebrate this annual event.
As per the report, through this fest the Kaipeng tribe promotes their unique traditional identity; accelerates social harmony, oneness and motivates the new generation over the immense value & significance of their heritage & tradition. They inspire the new generation to protect and preserve their valuable heritage, custom, costume and identity. Delegates from all branches of the Kaipeng organization have taken part in this grand festival and celebrated the fest with their unique traditional social festivities. In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries Ampi MDC Shipsonlian Kaipeng has inaugurated the event by lighting the candle. The Sakungphai Festival is a platform where the Kaipeng people from different part of Tripura come and create social integration to celebrate it once in a year. On the other hand they promote the genuine sense of heritage preservation, unit, fraternity and relationship amidst themselves. Sakungphai, which refers a post harvest festival that is being celebrated since long back and will be followed in future too with proper care and dignity.
The festival was buzzing with people and many stalls have been installed that showcased the unique Kaipeng traditional social reflection. The CYKA executive committee members have conducted a grand discussion over different issues related to their organisational achievements and responsibilities amidst the YKA branch delegates present in the observation. The organizer has beautified the event with various colourful Kaipeng traditional cultural showcases which have drawn the attention of the event spectators.
Among the distinguished dignitaries there were Ampi 23 constituency MDC Sadagar Kalai, Ampi TMP president Sanjay Jamatia, Sukhendu Kalai, ZDC member, Sukhmani Molsom, senior advisor, Shukhamoy Molsom, Gamaku cluster MYA president, Lalnunzira Kaipeng, general secretary, Laldam Kaipeng, advocate and many others remained present in the programme.
