Agartala, Tripura, 24th of March 2026 : The Tripura Rural Economic Growth and Service Delivery Project (TRESP), supported by the World Bank, continues to transform rural livelihoods across Dhalai district. The initiative is owned and managed by the Tribal Welfare Department, with active support from seven Project Implementation Units (PIUs), ensuring a well-integrated and multi-sectoral development approach.

At the district level, the project is being implemented under the dynamic leadership of the District Magistrate & Collector, backed by a committed District Project Management Unit (DPMU) comprising seven domain experts. Their focused efforts are strengthening key livelihood sectors such as agriculture & horticulture, fisheries, and livestock.
A major highlight of TRESP’s success in Dhalai is the outstanding performance of Producer Groups (PGs). Against a target of 460 groups, 393 have already been formed, achieving an impressive 85.43%. This reflects strong community participation and effective mobilization at the grassroots level.
Block-wise achievements further underline this success. Ganganagar has accomplished 100% of its target, while Manu block has reached an exceptional 98.42%. Other blocks such as Raishyabari, Dumburnagar, and Chawmanu have also recorded notable progress, showcasing strong field-level execution.
In addition to group formation, financial empowerment has been a key focus area. So far, 256 Producer Groups have been supported with working capital, while 295 groups have received establishment cost assistance, enabling them to expand operations and improve income outcomes.
The sectoral spread of these groups remains well-balanced across agriculture & horticulture, fisheries, and livestock, promoting diversified and sustainable livelihood opportunities for tribal communities.
Overall, TRESP is fast emerging as a catalyst for inclusive and sustainable development in Dhalai, with Producer Groups playing a pivotal role in driving economic resilience and grassroots transformation.
