Dharmanagar By-Election: Intensive Preparations, 11 Women-Managed Model Polling Stations In Focus.

Dharmanagar, Tripura, 8th of April, 2026 : The much-awaited by-election for the 56 Dharmanagar constituency in North Tripura district is set to take place on April 9. Extensive administrative preparations are already visible ahead of the polling.Since Wednesday morning, there has been significant activity at the PM Shri Government Girls’ School premises in Dharmanagar. Polling personnel began dispersing around 9 a.m., collecting Electronic Voting Machines (EVMs), VVPATs, and other essential materials before heading to their respective polling stations.Under strict administrative supervision and tight security arrangements, the dispatch of polling teams was completed successfully. According to official sources, all teams reached their designated polling stations safely under the watch of central forces and state police.

No untoward incidents have been reported so far, which sends a positive signal for the conduct of the election.A total of 55 polling stations have been set up for the by-election. Among these, 11 have been designated as “model polling stations.” Notably, these 11 booths will be entirely managed by women personnel. This initiative has been taken to highlight women’s active participation and administrative capability, officials said.Meanwhile, the dispatch centre set up at the Government Girls’ School in Dharmanagar is fully prepared. Arrangements have been made for the smooth distribution of EVMs, VVPATs, and all statutory and non-statutory materials to polling personnel.

A steady presence of polling staff has been observed since morning, with materials being handed over in accordance with prescribed procedures.The administration has assured that adequate security forces will be deployed at every polling station. Essential facilities such as drinking water, shaded areas, and ramps for accessibility have also been arranged for voters. All necessary steps have been taken to ensure a smooth voting process.Despite the prevailing political intensity in the region, the administration’s primary goal remains to conduct a peaceful, free, and fair election. Officials are optimistic that, with coordinated efforts from polling personnel and security forces, the entire election process will be completed without disruption.
