Dharmanagar, Tripura, 19th of March, 2026 : Political activity is gradually intensifying ahead of the upcoming by-election in the 56 Dharmanagar constituency. In this context, CPI(M) candidate Amitabh Dutta, nominated by the Left Front, formally filed his nomination papers on Thursday.At around 12 noon, he reached the office of the Sub-Divisional Magistrate in Dharmanagar in a procession accompanied by party workers and supporters. There, he submitted his nomination papers to the Returning Officer and Sub-Divisional Magistrate of Dharmanagar, Debjani Chowdhury.A great deal of enthusiasm and excitement was visible among party workers and supporters surrounding the nomination process. Several senior leaders and workers of the Left Front were present during the rally and gathering. According to administrative sources, the entire process was completed peacefully.

After filing his nomination, Amitabh Dutta addressed the media, stating that he has entered the electoral contest with the aim of protecting the interests of common people, ensuring development, and upholding democratic rights. He expressed confidence that the people of Dharmanagar will support him.It is noteworthy that political activities of various parties have already intensified around the Dharmanagar by-election. Political observers believe that campaigning in the constituency will gain further momentum in the coming days.
