Dharmanagar, Tripura, 1st of April, 2026 : Political activities are intensifying ahead of the upcoming Dharmanagar by-election. In this context, a massive rally was organized in Dharmanagar by the joint initiative of leftist student and youth organizations SFI (Students’ Federation of India) and DYFI (Democratic Youth Federation of India). The rally witnessed a huge response across the town, with a large number of students and youths participating enthusiastically.

The procession passed through several areas of Dharmanagar and concluded with a brief (public meeting). From the meeting, leaders appealed to voters to ensure a decisive victory for CPI(M)-nominated candidate and prominent labor leader Amitabh Dutta.Among those present at the program were DYFI state secretary Nabarun Deb, Dharmanagar subdivision secretary Arjun Nath, Salman Khan, along with several other prominent leaders of student and youth organizations.
In his speech, Nabarun Deb sharply criticized the current social and economic conditions in the state. He stated, “The rising spread of drug addiction in the state is alarming, leading the youth astray. It is extremely important to protect the younger generation from this situation.”He further alleged that unemployment has reached a critical level. “Thousands of educated youths are still struggling due to lack of job opportunities. There are neither sufficient employment avenues nor a favorable environment for business and trade,” he said. He also highlighted the deterioration of the healthcare system, claiming that government hospitals lack adequate services and infrastructure, causing immense suffering to common people.
Referring to the poor condition of roads, he added that public dissatisfaction over development issues is increasing. He called for the revival of leftist forces to address these problems.Leaders at the meeting asserted that electing Amitabh Dutta—who has long been associated with movements for workers and common people—would pave the way for the development of Dharmanagar and help resolve prevailing issues.
The rally and meeting created a charged political atmosphere in Dharmanagar. With the by-election approaching, such political activities are expected to increase further in the coming days.
