Dharmanagar, Tripura, 27th of March 2026 : Serious questions are once again being raised about the state’s healthcare system. A video that has gone viral on social media shows dogs freely roaming inside Dharmanagar District Hospital, even lying on beds meant for patients.The incident has triggered widespread concern across the district, raising critical questions about hospital safety and hygiene standards.Reacting sharply to the incident, Dharmanagar District Congress President Digvijay Chakraborty alleged, “This is the true picture of the current healthcare system in the state. Even the minimum standards of safety and cleanliness for patients are not being maintained. If such conditions exist inside a hospital, where will ordinary people go?”He further claimed that negligence on the part of hospital authorities and administrative indifference have led to such a situation.

According to him, despite spending crores of rupees, the quality of healthcare services has not improved and is instead deteriorating day by day.Following the viral incident, public anger has also been evident. Many are questioning how such an occurrence could take place in a crucial institution like a district hospital. Health experts have also not ruled out the risk of infections to patients due to such unhygienic conditions.

Meanwhile, no official response has yet been issued by the hospital authorities. Questions are also being raised about the role of on-duty security personnel, with clear allegations of negligence. There have reportedly been multiple complaints against some security staff in the past as well.Various sections are now demanding a prompt investigation and strict action against those responsible.
