Bishalgarh, 16th of May, 2024 : On 14/05/2024 one prisoner named Swarna Kumar Tripura aged about 27 Years serving life sentence at Kendriya Sanshodhanagar, Bishalgarh escaped from the Prison. From the Office of the Inspector General of Police on 15/05/2024 through a press note it has been informed that internal enquiry reveals alleged involvement of prison staff in escape and accordingly, a criminal case has been registered in Bishalgarh PS. FIR named 2 Prison warder Mr. Mafiz Mia and Mr. Tapan Rupini have been arrested by Bishalgarh PS and have been remanded to judicial custody till 22.5.2024.
Three Jail officials including said warders and Debashish Shil, Sub Jailor (In Charge, KST Bishalgarh) have been suspended for dereliction of duties. In the Press Note it has also been stated that Police Investigation is in progress and IG Prisons coordinating with 3 District SPs in search operation to nab the escaped Prisoner. Detailed enquiry is ordered to look into the incident and identify lapses that led to such incident of escape.
