Fisheries Minister Of Tripura Shudhangshu Das Provides Financial Assistance To The Flood Affected Fish Farmers During 2024-25, Under  NDRF/SDRE.

Agartala, Tripura, 24th of August 2025 : With the initiative of Fisheries Department Government of Tripura organized District level distribution programme for the financial assistance to the flood affected fish farmers during 2024-25, under NDRF/SDRE at Muktadhara Auditorium, Agartala, Tripura on Saturday (23rd August, 2025). In the presence of many distinguished dignitaries, Hon’ble SC Welfare, ARD, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das, inaugurated the event by lighting the lamp.

Addressing at the District level distribution programme for providing financial assistance to the flood affected fish farmers,  Hon’ble  ARD, Fisheries Minister Sudhangshu Das said that Government’s goal is to make farmers self-reliant and develop them by increasing Animal Resources Development and various types of fish farming by 2047. Fisheries Minister Sudhanshu Das said that e said that our state Chief Minister Professor (Dr) Manik Saha has launched the Developed Tripura 2047 documents. He said that the developed Tripura of 2047 will be a comprehensively developed Tripura where there will be no poverty. The empowerment of farmers will be strengthened and ensured. Therefore, the Government will adopt various progressive and well-conceived policies for the development of farmers.

Highlighting the occasion, Fisheries Minister remarked that currently, many farmers have become interested in integrated farming, the Government is also encouraging them through various assistance. Fisheries Minister highlighted the success stories of successful fish farmers of the state, Lalchan of Kalyanpur, Sujit Das of Mohanpur Katlamara, and Priyanka Deb of Gomati district, as examples.He said that each of them is earning 10 to 20 lakh annually by raising fish, poultry and ducks.

At the program, 30 fishermen were given a check of 5760 rupees as flood relief, 132 fishermen were given ice boxes to store fish and 10 fishermen were given fishing nets. A KCC loan of 50 thousand was given to one person at the event. Fisheries Minister Shudhangshu Das and other guests handed over these. This year, 2173 fishermen families of the West District have been provided financial assistance from the Flood Relief Fund.  

Director of the Fisheries Department Santosh Das delivered a welcome address at the inaugural session of the event today. The opening song was performed by artists from the Asha Sangeet Kala Kendra. The program was presided over by West Tripura Zilla Saha-Sabhadipati Biswajit Shil. Amidst the other distinguished dignitaries there were Hon’ble Mayor of Agartala Municipal Corporation (AMC) Dipak Majumder, MLA Minarani Sarkar, MLA Antara Sarkar (Deb) and many others distinguished dignitaries were present at the programme. The chairpersons of Jirania, Old Agartala, Bamutia and Mohanpur Panchayat Samiti were also present at the program.  The Deputy Director of the West District Fisheries Department delivered a vote of thanks at the event.
