Agartala, Tripura, 20th of March, 2026 : The Institute of Advanced Studies in Education (IASE), Kunjaban, Tripura, in collaboration with the National Council for Teacher Education(NCTE) successfully organised a One-Day Stakeholders’ Capacity Building Programme and Nationwide Roll-out of National Professional Standards for Teachers (NPST) and National Mission for Mentoring (NMM) at Pragna Bhavan, Agartala on Thursday (19th March, 2026).

The programme witnessed the participation of approximately 180 stakeholders, including principals, teachers, officials and academic leaders from the University, IASE, CTEs, DIETs, JNVs and CBSE and State affiliated schools. The programme was graced by the Hon’ble Governor of Tripura, Shri Indrasena Reddy Nallu, as the Chief Guest. Other distinguished dignitaries present included Shri Animesh Debbarma, Director of Higher Education, Smt. L. Darlong, Director, SCERT, Tripura, Shri. D. K. Chaturvedi, Academic Advisor, NCTE and his Team, and Dr. Robin Chhetri, Former Director, SCERT Sikkim.
The programme commenced with a warm welcome address by Dr. Ratna Roy, Principal, IASE, Tripura, who highlighted the significance of NPST and NMM in transforming teacher education and professional standards in India. The inaugural session featured video messages from eminent national leaders, including Shri Dharmendra Pradhan, Hon’ble Minister of Education, Shri Jayant Choudhury, Hon’ble Minister of State for Education, Shri Vikas Gupta, Commissioner, KVS, and Prof. Pankaj Arora, Chairperson, NCTE, who emphasised the importance of teacher capacity building and mentoring systems. This was followed by an insightful address from Shri. D.K. Chaturvedi, who elaborated on the vision and implementation of NPST and NMM; Smt. L. Darlong, who spoke on the role of state institutions in strengthening teacher development, and Shri Animesh Debbarma, who highlighted the need for continuous professional growth among educators. In his inaugural address, the Hon’ble Governor of Tripura appreciated the initiative and underscored the critical role of teachers in nation-building. He encouraged educators to actively engage with these new frameworks for improving educational quality following the recommendations of NEP-2020.

The inaugural session was followed by a series of technical sessions focusing on conceptual understanding and hands-on training. The sessions covered the NPST Digital Portal, the framework of the National Mission for Mentoring, and practical registration processes. The programme included interactive discussions, feedback sessions, and collaborative learning opportunities. The post lunch technical session was conducted at the National Institute of Electronics and Information Technology (NIELIT), Bodhjungnagar, Agartala a deemed-to-be university with which IASE Kunjaban, Agartala has been collaborating since 2023. The institution provided excellent infrastructural support, including laboratories and technical facilities, ensuring effective hands-on training for participants.
This programme marked a significant milestone as it was the first collaboration between IASE, Tripura and NCTE for organising a national-level event. The officials from NCTE expressed their satisfaction with the successful conduct of the programme and conveyed their keen interest to collaborate with IASE Kunjaban, Agartala, in their future academic endeavors.

The Valedictory session was chaired by Shri. Niladri Das, Director of NIELIT, Agartala and Shri. D.K. Chaturbedi, Academic Advisor, NCTE, New Delhi. The session commenced with the concluding remarks of one day capacity building programme of NPST and NMM. The programme concluded with the vote of thanks, marking the closing of a highly productive and impactful day.
