Dharmanagar, Tripura, 8th of March, 2026 : A special awareness program titled “Her Health Haven” was organized in Dharmanagar on Sunday on the occasion of International Women’s Day. The initiative was jointly organized by the Tripura Rural Livelihood Mission (TRLM) and the North Tripura District Administration at the Vivekananda Sardha Shatabarshiki Bhavan premises from 11 a.m.

The primary objective of the program was to raise awareness about women’s health and to spread a positive message regarding women’s health rights and well-being in society.The event was inaugurated by Aparna Nath, Sabhadhipati of the North Tripura Zilla Parishad. The chief guest of the program was Chandni Chandran, District Magistrate and Collector of North Tripura.Among the special guests present were Devayani Chowdhury, Meena Debbarma, gynecologist Dr. Ankita Bhattacharjee, and Sauriya Parveen. The program was chaired by Rakhi Debnath.
At the beginning of the event, the guests were felicitated with flowers and traditional uttariyas. The program was formally inaugurated with the lighting of a ceremonial lamp.During the program, speakers highlighted the importance of women’s health, rights, social security, and empowerment. Experts particularly discussed issues such as teenage pregnancy, reproductive and sexual health, unwanted pregnancies, personal hygiene, and the importance of regular preventive health check-ups. They emphasized that open discussions on these topics are essential for increasing awareness in society.Members of various Self-Help Groups (SHGs) from the district also presented handicrafts and products made by them to the guests, showcasing the activities of SHGs and promoting the message of women’s self-reliance. A question -and-answer session was also held, where experts addressed various health-related queries from participants.The cultural segment of the event was another highlight. Traditional Hojagiri Dance and Rabindra Nritya performances captivated the audience.The program witnessed significant participation from members of self-help groups, students, and local residents. Officials from the administration stated that similar awareness initiatives will continue in the future to promote women’s health awareness and strengthen their social and economic empowerment.
