Following the vision of Hon’ble Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi to promote better coordination between Hindi and other Indian languages, a digital platform named ‘BHARATI – Multilingual Translation Sarathi’ has been developed. It has been designed to reduce the linguistic gap between Hindi and the 15 Indian languages listed in the Eighth Schedule of the Constitution.

According to the ConstitutionOfficial Language of the Central Government, that is, the Rajbhasha, is Hindi and its script is Devanagari. Therefore, with the objective of promoting the increasing use of Hindi in the administrative functions of the Central Government, the Department of Official Language under the Ministry of Home Affairs was established as an independent department on 26 June 1975.
