Dharmanagar, Tripura, 10th of February, 2026 : In view of the rising number of road accidents across North Tripura district, the Road Safety Initiative has appealed to the district administration for the deployment of a fully equipped ambulance to ensure prompt and effective emergency services. On Monday, February 9, a delegation from the organization submitted a memorandum to the District Magistrate of North Tripura, Chandni Chandran. In the memorandum, the organization highlighted that road accidents are occurring frequently in Dharmanagar and adjoining areas.

However, due to the absence of specialized and modern ambulance services, injured victims often face delays in being transported to hospitals, which in many cases leads to avoidable loss of life. The organization described the situation as deeply alarming. Members present during the submission of the memorandum included Sanjeev Dhar along with other representatives of the Road Safety Initiative. The district president of the organization, Suman Mahanta, stated that there is an urgent need for a modern, fully equipped ambulance in North Tripura. The proposed ambulance should be fitted with oxygen support systems, primary trauma care kits, and other essential emergency medical equipment. The memorandum further emphasized that if the ambulance is operated by trained personnel from the Fire and Emergency Services Department, on-the-spot first aid and rescue operations at accident sites could be carried out more effectively.

Fire service personnel are skilled in rescue operations, there is currently a lack of adequate infrastructure to provide immediate medical assistance to the injured. The organization expressed hope that prompt action by the district administration would ensure timely medical treatment for accident victims and help save lives. Copies of the memorandum have also been sent to the Chief Minister and the Chief Medical Officer of North Tripura. Local residents have extended their support to the demand and are eagerly awaiting swift government intervention.
