New Delhi, Delhi, 26th of January, 2026 : A special Military Band Performance will be organised at the historic Shaniwar Wada, Pune, on 26 January 2026, marking an evening of patriotism set in the heart of the city’s heritage. The iconic fort will resonate with pride as the Armoured Corps Centre & School Military Band, together with the Pipe Band and Jazz Band of the Bombay Engineer Group and Centre (BEG Centre), presents a ceremonial performance to commemorate 150 years of “Vande Mataram”. The event will be conducted under the aegis of Headquarters Southern Command by BEG Centre (Khadki), and will be open to the public.

The event will pay tribute to “Vande Mataram”—a song that inspired India’s freedom struggle and continues to symbolise unity and national identity—while rekindling the spirit of national awakening it once ignited. Set against the iconic landmark of Shaniwar Wada, the evening will celebrate the enduring spirit of the Republic through stirring military melodies and time-honoured martial music. The massed bands, known for precision, discipline and musical excellence, will present a repertoire blending patriotic compositions with ceremonial military tunes, creating a visually and emotionally uplifting experience for citizens and visitors alike.

The Armoured Corps Centre & School Military Band, raised on 10 April 1948, has a distinguished record of performances at major national ceremonial occasions including Republic Day, Army Day, Rashtrapati Bhavan duties, Amar Jawan Jyoti, and colour/guidon presentations. The band has also represented India internationally in London (1990), Bhutan (2003), Sweden (2006) and Edinburgh (2008), and has several “firsts” to its credit—upholding a legacy of excellence and honour. Supported by the Pipe Band and Jazz Band of BEG Centre, the evening will feature patriotic tunes and national melodies, including stirring renditions inspired by “Vande Mataram”, offering a resonant homage to India’s spirit and sacrifice.

The programme is expected to draw large public participation and provide a memorable start to the Republic Day celebrations in Pune, while underscoring the Indian Army’s deep connect with the nation’s heritage and its role in preserving and promoting patriotic traditions, as the nation commemorates 150 years of “Vande Mataram” and the timeless ideals of unity, sacrifice and national pride it represents.
